We are a Healthy School and know all about the best foods to keep us fit and well.

Healthy Food

Every day, we have either fresh fruit or vegetables, such as apples, bananas, raisins, pears, satsumas, carrots or sugar snap peas. We also drink plenty of water to keep ourselves hydrated and to make our brains work well.

Please be aware that here at Holton le Clay Infant and Junior School, we promote a healthy lifestyle throughout the whole school day. Below is an excerpt from our Food Policy regarding the content of a packed lunch and the promotion of water to drink at lunch time for all.

 Our goal
Ensure pupils and staff receive nutritious, fresh, local and organic
food at lunch and throughout the school day, and that this food is
delicious, seasonal, affordable and safe.
How we will achieve it :
• Packed Lunch – discourage fizzy drinks, cordial juices, sweets, crisps, chocolate biscuits in lunchboxes.
• Promote water to drink at lunchtime.
• Provide food of consistent nutritional quality throughout the school day which meets the current Governments food regulations
• Ensure pupils have easy access to drinking water throughout the day.

To follow our School Food Policy, we will continue to provide water to drink during lessons and also at lunchtime for packed lunches and hot school meals. Water will be available on each dining table and pupils are politely requested not to bring along drinks from home.

What is a Healthy Lunchbox?

Packing a healthy lunchbox
With the unpredictable nature of our day to day lives, preparing and packing a healthy lunchbox can be a difficult task. Finding time to shop and prepare interesting and healthy meals for school lunches can stressful. But the foods we send to school with our children can contribute up to 1/3 of their daily intake of nutrients. So its important to pack a balanced lunch to ensure they’re getting the nutrients they need.
